Your questions about investing quickly answered
Anyone new to investing needs to know about and use Investopedia.
“Educating the world about finance” serves as the perfect tagline for this information rich site. Their search function lets you quickly define almost any investing term.
Using it, anyone can easily search for the meaning of an unknown or misunderstand investing or finance term. That lets you quickly clarify or eliminate confusion. In particular, beginners can find this online service works well to help them learn more of the world of finance.
Mobile friendly Investopedia
Investopedia works especially well in our digital one screen world. The well presented and formatted definitions can be picked up on any mobile device. That puts a useful financial reference and dictionary in your pocket.
When confused by the meanings of words, a ready and reliable definition can help improve understanding or better define an issue. Too often the mainstream media incorrectly uses financial terms. Unfortunately business reporters, pundits and commentators also misuse financial terms.
Knowing gives you power
Using Investopedia can quickly resolve or define such issues. Correctly understanding and using terms can speed communication, learning and understanding of investment opportunities. That gives you the ability to more quickly see opportunity or recognize and avoid risk. It can help you understand a company and possibly recognize when others misunderstand. With better understanding you can more quickly see both opportunity and danger.
That can point you to a profit making opportunity or when necessary get you out early.
More finance information
Investopedia provides considerably more than a financial dictionary service. They provide a significant range of digital information services. Sign up for their Term of the Day newsletter and each day receive a well written one paragraph financial definition in your Inbox.
They want you to use and rely on the site for virtually every aspect of informing and educating yourself about the world of finance. It will be worth you time to explore the site.
The business
Investopedia is a business, a division of ValueClick, Inc., listed as VCLK on NASDAQ. Today it closed at $20.90. This is not a recommendation to buy the stock. I have not yet done my due diligence on this company.
This digital marketing services company targets marketers. Using their suite of products and services, marketers can engage with prospects online. Investopedia fits in one of their four business segments.
My first look at VCLK suggests they are improving focus and are addressing financial issues. The analyst sentiment is moving in the right direction.
So far the market has not been impressed. They have gone through a few tough quarters and the stock has taken some serious hits.
Could this be an opportunity? Too early to tell or reach conclusions but I think this could be one worth watching. I have put it on a watch list.
Naturally, as a business they want to grow revenue and make money. They have paid services but provide significant value for free. Information on the site continually grows. They present an extensive range of approaches, strategies and information. You can benefit yourself by taking advantage of the extensive amount of free information.
Over 200 writers have contributed articles over time. They represent a wide range of opinion and information. In general I find the articles and information on Investopedia reliable.
I heartily endorse and recommend this site to define terms. For that it is very useful. However, that is not saying it is perfect and absolutely accurate. I do not agree with all the information or all their positions on issues or all the recommendations made.
The issues that I have are totally matters of opinion rather than fact. This is a very good site and a useful source of good information.
As always, I recommend that you have several sources of information. You should gather data and opinions from multiple sources then do your own thinking. Do not let this, or any site be your only source for information. When in the stock market you must always be thinking for yourself to get the best results for yourself.
Other than being a regular user of Investopedia I have no association with this site or company and have received no consideration for my comments.
